Education
First Presbyterian Church Florence nurtures all members of its church family with its Christian education, development, and spiritual growth programs.
Sunday School is the foundation of the Christian education programs at FPCF. Classes are available from nursery age through adult. Currently, there are five adult and three children/youth classes meeting at 9:40 each Sunday morning. Additionally, a women's Bible Study meets on Thursday mornings at 10:00.
During the school year various educational programs for both adults and children frequently follow Wednesday night suppers. This past year the children have been learning to play the chimes, which is exciting for them and enjoyable for the congregation. For adults, recent Wednesday night programs have featured guest speakers and discussions based on video series.
Annual educational programs and activities include Vacation Bible School, an Easter egg hunt in the spring, a teacher appreciation breakfast in May, Rally Day activities in August, and an Advent workshop in December. Unique events, such as a two part Reformation lecture series by K.C. Ptomey in 2007, are offered as opportunities and needs arise.
